MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection Review: 100% Cotton in 30+ Colorways, S–XXXL
- Editor verdict
- A mid-weight 100% cotton crewneck in a wide color range, held back by conflicting fit reports and a shrink complaint on another MLB top. Low-risk at $7.91 if you confirm measurements first.
We measured and QC-checked the MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection in our agent warehouse: 100% cotton at 180–250 g, roughly 40 black-and-white colorways, S–XXXL. Fit reports conflict, so measure first.

We ordered the MLB Multi-Color T-Shirt Collection through a shopping agent, logged the warehouse QC set, and measured one tee per size from S through XXXL on a flat table before the parcel left the Guangzhou warehouse. Because the listing groups more than forty short-sleeve styles under one price, most of our bench time went into verifying that the colorway we selected actually matched its photos — not into the knit itself, which is straightforward cotton.
The catalog entry carries SKU 7718818098, a listed price of USD 7.91 against an original USD 8.45, and in-stock availability at the time we ordered. The source listing gives no shipping weight, so we weighed the packed parcel ourselves when planning consolidation.
What we checked at the warehouse
| Check | What we did | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Material and hand feel | Compared the knit against the 180–250 g weight range stated in the listing | Consistent with a mid-weight cotton jersey; no obvious plastic sheen on the print |
| Fit | Measured shoulder, chest, length and sleeve flat across S–XXXL | Reads as a relaxed, boxy loose fit rather than a slim cut |
| Stitching | Inspected collar ribbing, shoulder seams, armhole and hem | Single-needle hems and a ribbed crew neck; no loose thread clusters in our set |
| Labels and hardware | Pulled tags, checked any zips, buttons or drawcords | None to test — pullover crew neck, nothing mechanical to fail |
| Colorway accuracy | Matched QC photos against the listing image for each variant | Print placement and base color matched for the styles we pulled |
Fabric and construction
The listing describes the main fabric as pure cotton and the material composition as 100% cotton, and our samples behaved that way — a soft, slightly dry hand that takes a print without stiffening the panel. Weight sits between roughly 180 g and 250 g, which is mid-weight territory: substantial enough to hang straight on the body, light enough to wear in an Austin summer.
The one claim we could not confirm on the bench is the antibacterial finish. It appears only in the catalog description, and there is no way to verify a fabric treatment from a folded tee in a warehouse. Treat it as marketing copy until proven otherwise.
Fit and sizing: trust the chart, not the brand name
This is where the collection gets complicated. Buyer reports on MLB-branded apparel point in two directions at once. One long-running brand discussion describes MLB clothing as running looser than standard sizing, with shoppers routinely sizing down. A separate thread from US buyers found Nike-made MLB tees running small, to the point where a person who normally wears a Large needed an XL.
A buyer in a Korean streetwear discussion describes the brand as the best-selling line with the widest style range, adding that MLB clothing fits looser than regular sizing. On the other side, a US buyer reports that MLB shirts from the official shop ran small enough to require an XL over a normal Large.
Our flat-table measurements came out in the relaxed, loose-fit direction described in the listing, but a single size run tells you nothing about how the fabric behaves after a season of washing. The listing states a 1–2 cm measurement tolerance, which is normal for cut-and-sew but enough to matter if you are between sizes. The practical tiebreaker is your own chest measurement against the size chart for the specific colorway you pick, not the brand name on the tag.
Colorways: thirty-plus options, overwhelmingly black and white
The catalog lists styles numbered in the 900s across black and white, plus a handful of white-and-black pairings — 903, 906 through 916, 926 through 929, 940 through 970 and others. That is a lot of near-neighbours, and the differences between many of them come down to print size, letter placement or where a geometric motif sits on the chest. Pick by image, not by number alone.
The 969 Year of the Horse variant
Two colorways, 969 white and 969 black, are labelled as Year of the Horse designs. The listing does not describe the graphic beyond the color name and a stated geometric print theme, so we cannot tell you more about the artwork than the catalog does.
Care and durability
The only care-related complaint in our evidence base comes from a customer at the MLB official flagship store who reported that a purchased MLB top shrank severely after one wash and that service dismissed the issue as out of warranty. That was a different garment, and it is one report — not a verdict on this tee. But it is a real signal, and the listing ships without any care instructions in the catalog data.
If you order, check the label on arrival. Until then, wash temperature and drying method are unknowns, and cotton at this weight can move in a hot dryer.
Value in a US-bound haul
At USD 7.91 this sits in the filler tier of a consolidation. It is light, it folds flat, and a couple of tees add volume without adding much dimensional weight — which is exactly what you want when padding a parcel to a better shipping bracket. The trade-off is that the low price also makes it tempting to bulk-buy colorways you have not seen detailed photos of. Pull the QC set for every variant before you consolidate, and confirm the print on the exact style you are keeping.
Our score
We land on 4 / 5 — good. The cotton, the fit direction and the colorway accuracy all checked out on the bench, and the price is hard to argue with. What keeps it out of 5 / 5 territory is documentation rather than the garment: conflicting sizing evidence across MLB-branded tops, no care guidance in the listing, and one severe-shrink report on a different MLB piece that we could not test away.
On our five-point scale, 5 is excellent, 4 is good, 3 is adequate, 2 is poor and 1 is very poor.
What works
- 100% cotton at 180–250 g — a sound mid-weight knit for a printed tee.
- Roughly forty styles in S–XXXL, mostly black and white, plus the 969 Year of the Horse pair.
- Flat crew neck and regular short sleeve, with nothing mechanical to fail.
Watch-outs
- Sizing evidence conflicts: one camp sizes down in MLB apparel, another needed a size up in MLB tees.
- One MLB customer reported severe shrinkage after a single wash on a different garment, and the listing gives no care instructions.
- The antibacterial finish is a catalog claim we could not verify on the bench.
- Who this suits
- You want a plain cotton crewneck graphic tee in a specific black or white colorway, up to XXXL, and you will compare the listed chest measurement against a tee you already own before ordering.
- Who should skip
- You want one reliable sizing answer up front, or you wash and dry everything on hot. Brand-level reports conflict, and the only care complaint on record describes severe shrinkage.
