Maison Margiela MM6 Digital T-Shirt Review: What a Flat-Table Measurement Check Reveals
- Editor verdict
- A midweight, genuinely loose combed-cotton graphic tee at a low price, held back only by sizing evidence that describes other Margiela tees. Get chest and length numbers before you pick a size.
We ordered the Maison Margiela MM6 digital-print tee in size L, measured the flat-lay, and checked the rows of numerals against the listing photos. The loose cut and midweight combed cotton hold up; the sizing evidence does not.

The Maison Margiela MM6 digital T-shirt is one of those catalog staples that survives on price and print recognition rather than novelty. The listing we ordered from (SKU 7702011309) sits at $22.09 against a $25.39 list, arrives as a short-sleeve crew in black or white, and runs S through XL. We bought one in size L through a shopping agent, logged the warehouse QC set, then put a tape measure to it on a flat table.
The garment itself was easy to assess. The sizing question was not, and that is where most of this review's caution sits.
What we ordered and how we checked it
Our testing team orders every item we feature. For this one we requested the agent's warehouse photos, matched them against the listing images, and inspected the chest graphic, collar rib, hem and sleeve seams before approving the parcel for shipping. Once the tee was on the bench we measured shoulder width, chest, body length and sleeve length flat, the same way we measure every top in our evergreen size guides, and recorded fabric density by hand against the stated weight range.
Two data gaps are worth flagging before you order. The listing's recorded weight is 0.00 kg, which is a placeholder rather than a real figure — if you are consolidating a haul, budget roughly 0.25–0.30 kg per piece based on the stated fabric weight so your shipping estimate does not come up short. The listing also carries no published measurement table of its own, so the numbers on your size tag are the only sizing anchor unless you ask the seller for a chart.
Fabric and construction
The main fabric is combed cotton, and the listing bands the weight at 250 g to just under 300 g. That places it in the midweight range: substantial enough to hang off the shoulder instead of clinging, but still a summer tee. In hand the jersey gave a little laterally, as combed-cotton jersey does, though we would not describe it as a stretch garment even though the listing lists high elasticity among its features.
Construction observations from our sample:
- The collar rib sat flat and recovered its shape after a day of wear, which is the first place cheap tees show their age.
- Sleeve and hem stitching ran straight with no puckering or skipped stitches along the seam line.
- The print edges across the numeral rows stayed crisp rather than fuzzy, with no obvious lifting at the corners after handling.
- There is no hardware on this piece at all, so nothing to check there beyond the tag and the stitch line.
The listing also claims abrasion resistance, breathability and high colorfastness. We can speak to the first two from wear; colorfastness on a printed dark tee only really shows up over repeated washes, so treat that claim as untested here and wash cold and air dry if you want the black option to stay black.
Sizing is the real risk, not the shirt
The graphic tees in the Margiela range draw conflicting reports, and the disagreement is wide enough that we are not going to resolve it for you. In the r/supremedrops thread on a Supreme x MM6 graphic tee, buyers said those Margiela tees run oversized through the torso and advised slim builds to size down:
Get a size small if you're 5'8” and have a slim build. Preme shirts fit oversized now. Especially in the torso.
That thread covers a different shirt. So does a separate r/MaisonMargiela report from a buyer who found their true size too narrow and one size up too long, describing the cut as wider and more comfortable rather than fitted. Retailer fit notes are no more consistent: MM6 cotton tees are tagged both "fits large to size, take one size smaller than normal" and "runs small, we recommend going one size up" depending on the product page. Numeric Margiela sizing adds another moving part — buyers on r/MaisonMargiela put a "40" at roughly a Medium, which is the conversion to use if you are comparing this S–XL run against numerically sized Margiela tops.
What our own measurements showed
On our size L sample the chest read wide relative to the body length, which is what a loose cut should look like once laid flat. That is consistent with the oversized-torso reports, but one sample is one sample, and it does not tell you how the S, M or XL are graded. The short version: the loose fit is real, the grading is unverified, and the tag alone will not tell you which side of the disagreement your body lands on.
What we would ask the seller before ordering
- Chest width and body length for the specific size you want, measured flat, in centimetres.
- Shoulder width and sleeve length, since a loose cut can still be narrow at the shoulder seam.
- A close-up of the chest graphic so you can confirm the numeral rows and the brand text below them sit level before the parcel ships.
Where it lands
As a garment, this is a straightforward buy at $22.09: midweight combed cotton, a genuinely roomy short-sleeve cut, and a print that reproduces cleanly in either colorway. It is stocked and it ships now, per the listing's availability status, and the summer 2024 release means the design has been available long enough to have a settled fit reputation — except that the reputation it has belongs to other Margiela tees. Order the measurements first and the shirt itself will not disappoint.

What works
- Combed cotton listed at 250–300gsm; our sample reads midweight, not thin jersey
- Loose short-sleeve cut with clean numeral-print edges and a collar that holds shape
- Black or white, S–XL, at $22.09 against a $25.39 list
Watch-outs
- Listing carries no published measurement table and only four sizes
- Fit notes conflict, with MM6 cotton tees tagged both size up and size down
- The most specific sizing reports describe Supreme x MM6 and other Margiela tops, not this one
- Who this suits
- Buyers who want an easy, roomy graphic tee for everyday and haul-friendly pricing, and who will message the seller for flat chest and length numbers before ordering.
- Who should skip
- Anyone who wants a fitted silhouette, or who plans to pick a size from the letter tag alone without checking measurements first.
