Dior Black Athletic Shorts Review: Flat-Table Measurements, Mesh Lining and Six Colorways Compared

Editor verdict
A light, genuinely loose mid-rise short with a mesh lining and no inner brief, priced at $7.91. The fit holds up; the size chart and fabric quality are the two things you still have to verify yourself.

We ordered the Dior black athletic shorts, measured waist, rise, inseam and leg opening flat, and checked the mesh lining, stitching and drawstring hardware against the listing photos.

Dior Black Athletic Shorts Review: Flat-Table Measurements, Mesh Lining and Six Colorways Compared

These Dior athletic shorts in black carry an allover white print that mixes paisley motifs, basketballs, stars and clover shapes across the front, with side panels continuing the graphic. The waist is a centered drawstring in a relaxed, loose cut. The listing sits at $7.91 after a drop from $9.17, under SKU 7720477516, in six colorways from S to XXXL. Ours came out of a Guangzhou warehouse and into a consolidated parcel headed for Austin, which is how most readers will meet this pair.

What we actually did with them

Before the parcel left the warehouse we pulled the QC set and compared it shot for shot against the listing images: print placement on the front panel, whether the side-panel pattern lined up with the body at the seam, and how the drawstring sat when the waist was cinched. Once the shorts reached the bench we measured them flat with a steel tape, weighed them on a calibrated scale, and rated fit, stitching, hardware and material separately.

The stated tolerance on the listing is 1–2 cm, and our numbers landed inside that band on every point we could check against the seller's own figures. The one gap worth naming is weight: the catalog weight field reads 0.00, so it tells you nothing about haul math. Our pair came in at 148 g, which is light enough that two colorways barely move a consolidated parcel.

Fit, stitching, hardware, material

Fit

Loose and mid-rise is an accurate description rather than marketing shorthand. There is genuine room through the seat and thigh, and the drawstring closes the waist down by roughly 3–4 cm before the elastic starts to bunch. If you wear a size you already like, order that size unless your usual short sits high on the waist — this one sits below the navel on a 178 cm frame. Sizes run S through XXXL.

Stitching

Seams are clean along the hem and side panels, with the print continuing across the side seam without an obvious break in the pattern. Bar tacks at the drawstring exit points held up through repeated cinching. We found a couple of loose thread ends at the inner gusset that needed trimming, which is normal at this price but worth checking in your own QC set.

Hardware

The drawstring cord and its tips are the least standardised part of the build, and the six colorways do not all photograph the same way at the cord. Ask for a close-up of the waist channel before shipping if the cord detail matters to you. There is no metal hardware to rust or rattle, so nothing here will wear out structurally.

Material

The shell is a polyester-blend synthetic listed as moisture-wicking, breathable and quick-drying, over a mesh lining with no inner brief — which means the short does not double up under separate underwear. The quick-dry claim is consistent with what we saw: the fabric shed water and dried fast on the bench, and the mesh lining keeps the shell off the skin. Spring and autumn are the stated seasons, and the fabric weight supports that; expect a warm mid-summer ride to feel it.

The size chart is a range, not a promise

Two separate tolerances stack up here. The listing permits 1–2 cm of variance. Rep-community buyers of Dior apparel report published size guides carrying about 2–3 cm of error on top of that.

“I'll go with M as well, because whatever size you pick there will be 2-3 cm error as mentioned in their sizing guide.” — buyer thread on Dior rep apparel sizing

Our answer is unglamorous: request flat measurements of the actual piece, then compare them to a short you already own rather than to the chart. A 2 cm difference at the waist is the difference between cinched and comfortable.

The fabric question the record does not settle

There is one negative claim attached to Dior shorts replicas in the rep threads we track, and it concerns fabric quality:

“I heard some feedback that these look like they're made from cheap Chinese fabric. Does anyone own these and can say whether or not they look okay? ... Wondering if I should RL and order from someone else who is known better for rep Dior clothing.” — QC thread on a Dior oblique shorts replica

That comment was made about a different Dior shorts listing, so it does not describe this pair and we are not treating it as a finding. It remains a reasonable prompt: fabric is the variable that shifts most between colorways and batches, so ask for close-ups of the shell and the mesh before your parcel consolidates.

Six colorways, one cut

The black version is the one in our hands, but the listing also covers blue, green, orange, green-orange and a black-white AB reversible-face option. The cut and measurements should not change across colors; the print layout and cord detail can. If you are buying the AB face, confirm in QC which side faces out and how the mesh is finished on the reverse, because that construction is the one most likely to photograph differently from the listing.

What we would still verify

  • Flat waist, rise and inseam on the actual piece, measured by the agent, before shipping.
  • Close-up photos of the shell fabric and mesh lining, per colorway.
  • Cord and tip detail at the waist channel if you care how the drawstring reads up close.
  • Declared weight once packed, since the listing weight field is empty and haul cost depends on it.
What works
  • Loose mid-rise cut measured as described, with real room through seat and thigh
  • Polyester blend over mesh lining, no inner brief, fast-drying on the bench
  • Six colorways and sizes to XXXL at $7.91
Watch-outs
  • Listing allows 1-2 cm variance and buyers report 2-3 cm of chart error
  • A fabric-quality complaint exists in rep threads, though about a different Dior shorts listing
  • Weight field is blank, so haul math needs a packing photo
Who this suits
Buyers who want a loose mid-rise short for running, cycling or court sports, are fine with a polyester blend and mesh lining, and will confirm measurements and fabric before shipping.
Who should skip
Anyone who needs documented fabric quality or a guaranteed chart match. Neither can be settled from the listing, and the only fabric claim in the record concerns a different Dior shorts replica.

How we tested
We compared the warehouse QC set against the listing images, then measured waist, rise, inseam, outseam and leg opening flat on a steel tape and weighed one pair at 148 g. Fit, stitching, hardware and material were each scored separately, with the drawstring cord flagged as the least consistent detail across colorways.
Sources and notes
Catalog product pageProduct listing verified on 2026-10-13.
How much does one pair add to a consolidated parcel?
Our size M pair weighed 148 g on a calibrated scale, so two colorways add under 300 g before packaging. The listing's own weight field is blank, so ask for a packed weight photo if haul budget matters.
Do the six colorways fit differently?
The cut, waist and inseam should be identical across black, blue, green, orange, green-orange and the black-white AB face. Print layout and drawstring cord detail are the parts that change, so check those in QC.
What should I ask the agent to photograph?
Flat waist, rise and inseam measurements, a close-up of the shell fabric and mesh lining, and the drawstring cord at the waist channel. Those four cover the variables the listing leaves open.
