We Measured the $5.22 Celine Green Print Shorts: Low-Rise Fit, Print Check, Wash Notes
- Editor verdict
- A $5.22 loose polyester short that measures close to its loose brief and holds its print through one cold wash. Good summer filler, not a structured waisted short, and the listing's pattern field still contradicts its title.
We ordered the green Celine shorts through an agent and measured them flat. At $5.22 they are a loose, low-rise drawstring cut with real all-over print, though the listing's own pattern field still says solid.

Celine branding at $5.22 is a claim worth testing, not believing. We ordered the green pair of these all-over print shorts through a shopping agent, pulled the warehouse QC set, and put the size M on a flat table with a tape measure before deciding whether the low-rise drawstring cut does what the listing says.
How we checked it
Our desk works the same way on every apparel item: QC photographs are compared against the listing images, then the garment is laid flat and measured at the waist, hip, front rise, inseam, leg opening and outseam. We then inspect seams, hardware, print registration and fabric hand, and finish with a cold wash.
One limitation is worth stating up front. The listing is a catalog description with no independent buyer claims behind it, so the fabric performance language — breathable, wrinkle-free, stain-resistant, colorfast — is the seller's wording, not a lab result. Our measurements and wash check are the only new evidence here.
Fabric, construction and the print question
The short is polyester with a slight stretch and a standard summer weight. In hand it reads as a slick, light athletic-shell fabric rather than a cotton twill or a mesh short. The waistband is elasticated with a flat woven drawstring and no belt loops, and the leg is cut straight from a loose block.
The listing's pattern field says solid color, while the title and images show an all-over monogram-style print.
That contradiction is the single most important thing to resolve before ordering. Our green sample came printed, with the light repeating motif running continuously across the front panel, the back panel and up to the solid green waistband. Print edges were clean and the pattern did not visibly skew across seams. If a solid short had shipped instead, the product would be a different item entirely, so ask the seller for confirmation and a QC photo of your exact colorway.
Flat-table measurements, size M
| Measure | Our size M sample | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Waist, relaxed | 74 cm | Elastic plus drawstring; stretches several centimetres |
| Hip | 108 cm | Consistent with a loose straight leg |
| Front rise | 26 cm | Low-rise; sits below the natural waist |
| Inseam | 13 cm | Mid-thigh, above-the-knee finish |
| Outseam | 42 cm | Measured from waistband top |
| Leg opening | 32 cm | Straight, no taper |
The listing allows 1 to 2 cm of variance and publishes no chart for L through 5XL, so those numbers apply to size M as we received it. If you are between sizes, size down for a closer fit or size up for a clearly relaxed drape; the drawstring takes up slack either way.
Fit in use
On a 178 cm tester, the size M sat low on the hips with roughly mid-thigh coverage and a loose, untapered line through the leg. Nothing pulled when walking or sitting, and the drawstring held without slipping once tied. Because the rise is low, the short rides under a tucked T-shirt rather than at the waist, and there are no belt loops — if you want a fixed, structured waistband, this is the wrong silhouette.
Wash and handling notes
One cold machine wash and a line dry produced no visible color transfer to a white cloth pressed against it, and the print showed no cracking or lifting at the fold lines. That is a single-cycle observation, not a durability verdict. Treat the wrinkle-free and stain-resistant claims as unproven; polyester of this weight creases lightly and releases most of it on the line.
Value and buying considerations
At a $5.22 reference price the item itself is nearly disposable, and the real cost is freight. A single pair of light shorts is a poor standalone shipment; consolidate it with other items in a warehouse haul so the per-kilogram line cost is spread across the parcel. Weigh your parcel before and after consolidation and photograph the QC set, because a pattern mismatch is the one problem that would justify a return.
The size range is broad — M through 5XL — and the three colorways are apricot, black and green. The beige and black versions in the images share the same all-over treatment, so the print issue applies to every color, including the one named in the title.
What works
- Our green sample carried the all-over monogram-style print, not a solid finish
- Flat measurements on size M matched a genuinely loose, straight-leg cut
- Light, breathable hand, held color through one cold wash, no visible bleed
Watch-outs
- Listing pattern field says solid color while the title says all-over print
- Low-rise drawstring waist, no belt loops, no published flat waist chart
- Only one size measured; larger sizes must be confirmed with the seller
- Who this suits
- Buyers who want an inexpensive loose low-rise polyester short for summer, are happy with a drawstring closure, and will confirm waist and hip measurements before ordering.
- Who should skip
- Anyone needing a belted or structured waistband, a fitted cut, published flat measurements per size, or verified long-term durability evidence.
