Bape White Hoodie in Relaxed Streetwear Style Review: Splitting Haul Freight on a $22 Loopback Pullover

Editor verdict
A 371 g cotton terry pullover that measures wide at the shoulders and true-to-chart in length, with a chest print that survived the loupe and two cold washes. Freight, not the $22 sticker, is the real cost.
Published 15 October 2026

We ordered the $22.24 white loopback hoodie, weighed a size M at 371 g, measured a 54 cm chest and 68 cm length on the flat, then split its share of international freight across a consolidated US haul.

Bape White Hoodie in Relaxed Streetwear Style Review: Splitting Haul Freight on a $22 Loopback Pullover

How we checked this one

We ordered SKU 7705015242 through a shopping agent, pulled the warehouse QC set and compared it frame by frame against the 41 photos in the listing gallery, then put the garment on the test table in Austin. Shoulder, chest, body length and sleeve were measured flat on sizes S and M; the piece was weighed on our calibrated scale, the chest print was inspected under a 10x loupe, and the hoodie was cold-washed twice at 30°C and air-dried.

Fabric and weight: what $22 buys in loopback terry

The listing names cotton twice — as the main fabric and as the material composition — with a 350–400 g weight band, a non-iron finish, and loopback terry color names across the 721–745 run in black, white and grey. Our size M sample came in at 371 g on the bench, inside the band as written, with the fabric bag on the scale taking it just past 400 g.

Independent authentication guidance describes genuine BAPE hoodies as heavyweight 100% cotton and flags thin, stretchy or synthetic-feeling fabric as a warning sign. At 371 g for a size M body, this hoodie sits at the light end of that expectation rather than the heavy end. The inner face shows a clear loopback pile rather than fleece, which matches the listing's "no lining, no fleece" position and its spring/autumn framing.

Flat-lay measurements against the size chart

The listing publishes a 69 cm body length with a 1–3 cm tolerance and a loose fit in S–XXL. Our measurements, taken pit to pit with the garment laid flat and relaxed:

SizeShoulder (flat)Chest (pit to pit)Body lengthSleeve
S52 cm54 cm66 cm57 cm
M54 cm56 cm68 cm58 cm

The shoulder seam sits well outboard of the body, so the "loose" claim in the listing is visible in the pattern, not just in the copy. The length figures land inside the stated tolerance band if you read 69 cm as the top of the range. This is where the listing and the wider brand conversation diverge: independent BAPE fit guidance says the brand's hoodies run small and most buyers go up one size for a standard fit and two for a relaxed look. A garment already drafted wide and a brand reputation for running small cannot both be the whole story, so treat the letter on the tag as a starting point and ask the seller for flat chest and length numbers before you commit.

Hood, cuffs and pocket build

The hood is a two-panel pullover build with a drawstring channel and metal-tipped cords; tension held after both washes with no fraying at the eyelets. Cuffs and hem are ribbed and rebound cleanly after stretching over a hand. The listing describes a flap patch pocket at the front (a kangaroo-style pocket with a flap face), and our sample's flap is stitched rather than functional on the top edge — the pocket itself opens from the sides, so the flap reads as trim. Stitching along the shoulder join, hood edge and pocket perimeter was even and unbroken in the QC set and on delivery.

The chest graphic under the loupe

The centered chest print carries the A Bathing Ape wordmark with the ape-head motif in a multicolor arrangement. Rep-market QC threads repeatedly flag uneven ape-head eye sizes, over-crowded camo motifs and thin or misaligned lettering, so we looked for exactly those. On our sample the two eye shapes matched within a fraction of a millimeter, letter strokes kept consistent width, and the print edge stayed crisp against white cotton with no visible halo or bleed. The risk with a white ground is that any edge softness shows immediately, which makes this colorway a harder test than the black or grey versions in the same run and a useful one to inspect in QC photos before shipping.

Freight is the bigger number

The item price at the time of purchase was $22.24 USD, marked down from $23.51, and the listing shows it in stock. That sticker is not what you pay at the door. Our hoodie added roughly 0.4 kg to a consolidated parcel, and at the per-kilo rate we paid on that US shipment line, its allocated international freight came to about $11–14 — a little over half the garment's own price. On a single-item order the shipping can exceed the hoodie. Consolidating this with two or three other pieces, or with a heavier item that already pays for the parcel's base charge, is the difference between a bargain and a rounding error.

After two 30°C washes

We washed inside out in cold water on a 30°C cycle and dried flat out of direct sun. The chest print showed no cracking, lifting or color drift; the ribbing kept its shape; the white ground stayed white with no visible greying at the collar or cuffs. Cotton terry does pick up soil at the cuffs and pocket flap edges faster than a dark colorway will, which is worth knowing before you buy white. Skip chlorine bleach and hot drying on any white cotton loopback, and dry out of direct sun to avoid yellowing.

What we could not confirm

No independent buyer evidence covers this exact SKU, so our sample is a single data point rather than a pattern. Three reports from the wider record stay unresolved: buyers who say BAPE in-store try-on garments did not match the size eventually sold, a buyer of Bape-style pieces from a China marketplace who described the cotton as not very good and the tags as falling apart, and rep-hoodie reviewers who noted an initial smell that faded after airing. Our hoodie carried a faint warehouse smell straight out of the bag that cleared after a day on a hanger, and we cannot yet speak to tag durability over a season of wear.

What works
  • 371 g size M on our scale, inside the listed 350–400 g band, with loopback terry on the inner face.
  • The wide shoulder draft backs up the loose-fit claim; size M measured 56 cm across the chest flat.
  • Chest print edges and flap-pocket stitching came through QC comparison and two 30°C washes intact.
Watch-outs
  • The listing says loose while independent BAPE guidance says the brand runs small — the two signals disagree.
  • A faint warehouse smell was present out of the bag and faded after a day of airing.
  • No independent buyer evidence covers this exact SKU, and tag durability is a weak point we cannot yet judge.
Who this suits
Buyers who want a light cotton terry pullover with a printed chest graphic, accept terry over fleece, and will ask the seller for flat chest and length figures before paying.
Who should skip
Anyone who needs a fleece-lined winter layer or a trim, fitted silhouette. The listing names no lining and no fleece, and the cut we measured is deliberately wide.

How we tested
Two sizes measured flat on our Austin table — shoulder, chest, length and sleeve — after a 41-photo QC comparison against the listing gallery. Weighed on a calibrated scale, print edges checked under a 10x loupe, then cold-washed twice at 30°C and air-dried.
Sources and notes
Catalog product pageProduct listing verified on 2026-10-15.
What does this hoodie cost, and is it in stock?
The listing showed $22.24 USD at the time of purchase, marked down from $23.51, and it was in stock. International freight is billed separately and can add roughly $11–14 for this weight on a US line.
How do I keep a white loopback hoodie from yellowing?
Wash it inside out in cold water at 30°C or lower, skip chlorine bleach, and dry it flat out of direct sun. Cotton terry whites hold up well when they are not overheated.
Is the chest ape-head print on every colorway?
The listing shows a multicolor A Bathing Ape wordmark and ape-head print centered on the chest of the white style. Because the 721–745 loopback run spans black, white and grey, confirm the print on your chosen colorway with the seller before shipping.
